Cukurbag Village is one of the quiet, calm, green villages of Kas. And for some time now, it has been home to one of Turkey's most original eating/drinking venues, Capra, a chef's restaurant.
Serra, the creator of Capra, is a chef with an artistic soul. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts, she decided to continue her professional life in the kitchen and with the various trainings she received, she has been preparing dishes that leave a mark on the palate for about 10 years.
After being Maksut's chef for many years at Neolokal, one of Turkey's leading boutique restaurants, he settled in Kaş for his “dream place”. Serra has created a secluded, private oasis in Cukurbag Village. In the kitchen of her authentic house with a garden and high ceilings, she started to make tasting menus with wine pairings for a limited number of people, taking advantage of the blessings of the Mediterranean geography.
Serra's gusto for life is evident in every detail of Capra Cukurbag. Elegant handmade ceramic plates, copper jugs, live flowers in tiny pots, elegant tables and chairs, personal memories, collections, books, tastes, music... All of them are fine details that Serra has meticulously selected and even custom-made for herself.
Capra is famous for its specially curated tasting menu, which changes weekly and is made from local ingredients.
Serra travels from market to market, talks to local vendors, and uses the best and freshest examples of local ingredients that are disappearing in her weekly changing menu, encouraging villagers to grow and protect their own produce. Serra's respect and love for local ingredients is evident in the flavor and diversity of the dishes.
Whether it's the appetizer plate with tarhana, shrimp, dried tomatoes, black-eyed peas and hot oil, the hummus with the scent of cilantro and other aromatic herbs, the Mediterranean Minekop, the kölle, a traditional dish made with mixed legumes and wheat, or the purslane salad with lavender honey pear and Söğle goat tulum cheese; everyone at the table says “Hmmmm”.
Serra's door is open to everyone with a “heart”. You should definitely make a reservation 2 days before you go. I'm sure you'll enjoy having conversations about food and wine with Serra as she prepares dishes in the kitchen, listening to good music, and experiencing a dinner that makes a place in the heart in a place where no one else is...
